It may be spring almost everywhere in the nation, but for the weekend, this “girl about town” headed to the country—the still-wintry backcountry. One of my favorite pursuits is cross-country skiing. I love hearing the click of the boot snapping into the binding, pushing off into the forest, gliding peacefully among tall pines iced in white, surrounded by silence and the swoosh of my skis against the snow. I can spend hours on the trail, driven on by nature’s dramatic beauty and the hunger to see as much of it as I can. Confronted with the ongoing challenge of navigating rolling hills and dells, everything melts away as I focus on continually moving forward and keeping warm.

This week wrapped up the winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco. If you love food, you’ve got to make it a point to get to there someday: More than 80,000 cheeses, meats, condiments, candies, whole grains, juices, spice mixes, fancy salts, unique oils and other goodies are presented by 1,300 vendors from 35 countries.

One very important vendor was there: Núñez de Prado, DHC’s premiere supplier of olive oil in our beauty products.

Hello, everyone! If yesterday was like the day of the prom, today is the post-prom lunch, with everyone in the office swapping stories and talking about our favorite parts of the night. Quite simply, we were blown away by the fabulous crowd that came out to party with us at last night’s Garden of Beauty launch party. It was a smashing success. The beautiful and warm-hearted Karina Smirnoff, this season’s winner of Dancing With The Stars, joined us in helping celebrate our exciting new color cosmetics and innovative skincare products launching in early 2012. She was so sweet and welcoming as she greeted everyone, taking time to pose for pictures and sign autographs. She tweeted “Having so much fun at the @dhcskincare event! Rocking 2 the DJ while I meet my San Fran fans” So fab!
